As we enter the New Year and approach our two year anniversary at Teen Treatment Center, we have a lot to reflect on and be grateful for. We opened our facility with a dream to not only restore hope in adolescents who were struggling, but to restore their families as well. I am immensely grateful to the dedicated, caring team at our facility who continues to make this dream a reality, and to the teens and their families who let us become a part of their lives.
This year, we experienced a tremendous amount of growth at Teen Treatment Center. Our team of professionals has expanded to include new directors, family therapists, patient advocates, and more. We have created additional professional development opportunities for our staff members including trainings and the ability to have a stronger focus on individual programs. Overall, this growth has allowed us to continue providing the highest level of care to our patients and families.
One of our greatest accomplishments this year was the growth of our family program. From the beginning, we have recognized the need to provide support to the entire family, not solely the patients at our facility. With this in mind, we have added a two-day family workshop that includes a group therapy session, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) skills training for parents, additional parent support groups, and increased contact from our family therapists once teens graduate from our facility. Family involvement increases a teen’s chances at recovery, and with these new opportunities, parents are able to develop additional skills to continue the healing process after treatment.
For the upcoming year, we are thrilled to announce that we will be offering Road to Freedom, a Christian-based treatment option, for male patients starting this January. This program has been successful at our adult facility, The Treatment Center, for the past six years. Boys who come to our facility as part of Road to Freedom will have a Christian therapist, Christian counselor, the option to attend Christian-focused groups along with our general groups, and access to our on-site pastors for bible study and prayer. We look forward to opening our doors to families who choose this track for their teen boys.
My motto is, “teamwork makes the dream work,” and I truly feel that encapsulates our staff at Teen Treatment Center. No matter how tough of a day they’ve had or how closed off a teen may be when they enter our doors, our staff never gives up on them. Each day I witness the difference we are making in the lives of troubled teens and their families. Again, thank you to each one of you who has let us into your lives to restore your family, and thank you to each of our staff members who make it possible.
I wish you all a Happy New Year, and look forward to what 2016 will bring.
