Effective Programs for Troubled Teens
At Teen Treatment Center, our team is dedicated to helping teenagers heal mentally, physically and emotionally in a safe and secure environment. Our dedicated treatment team is comprised of board-certified medical doctors, nurses, therapists, counselors and more. Together, they have decades of experience treating troubled teens who are struggling with substance abuse along with a variety of common co-occurring mental health or behavioral issues. This includes:
- Substance Use Disorder and addiction (e.g. alcohol, illicit drugs, prescription medications)
- Mental health conditions (e.g. depression disorders, anxiety disorders, ADHD)
- Behavioral issues (e.g. impulse control, anger, ODD, Insomnia)
If your teen is struggling with the above or something similar, you’ve come to the right place. At our residential treatment center, our team utilizes evidence-based treatment programs and methods to help adolescents overcome any underlying issues that may be contributing to their substance abuse and/or decline in mental health.

Individualized Treatment Programs
At our accredited facility, teenagers receive around-the-clock care and support. Our main goals are to help troubled youth abstain from abusing drugs and alcohol for good, work through any underlying issues, and teach them healthy coping mechanisms needed for a successful future. In order to accomplish these goals, we develop a personalized treatment plan for each teen that will address their individual needs, background and condition.
All of the residential treatment programs at Teen Treatment Center are gender-separate, which means that your child will not have contact with patients of the opposite sex. By keeping the sexes separate, it allows troubled teenagers to remain focused on their recovery without unnecessary distractions. Since adolescent girls and boys tend to have different underlying issues and co-occurring disorders, gender-separate treatment also allows our team to provide treatment that will be more effective for what each teen is going through.
Our evidence-based treatment programs for teens include the following:
When your teen arrives at our facility, they will be assessed by our medical staff who will decide if detox is a necessary part of their treatment plan. We only prescribe detoxes for teens that have become physically dependent on drugs, alcohol or prescription medications. The goal of detoxification is to safely remove the drugs or alcohol from your child’s system and reduce their withdrawal symptoms. If your teen is abusing addictive substances, it is imperative they do not detox at home, as this can be extremely dangerous or even life threatening.
Your teen’s primary therapist will play a vital role in their healing process. Individual therapy sessions are conducted several times each week and focus on assessing and treating your teenager’s underlying issues. Our licensed therapists utilize evidence-based methods such as Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and other therapeutic modalities. During these sessions, teens learn skills that will help them to improve handling interpersonal issues, stressful situations and help regulate emotions.
One of the aspects that sets Teen Treatment Center apart is our focus on healing the entire family. We offer a comprehensive family therapy program that includes a family workshop, family therapy sessions, family support groups and DBT skills training. During family therapy sessions, parents are educated on their teen’s condition and address the difficulties of raising an adolescent who is struggling. By providing the entire family with the skills to work together, teens will have a more seamless transition back home and a better chance at a successful recovery.
We believe academics are a vital part of your teen’s development, and treatment should not get in the way of continuing their education. We provide a variety of options to accommodate your teen’s current academic situation, such as coordinating classwork with their home school, providing virtual courses, GED courses, or assisting them with credit recovery. Our goal is not only to help your teen thrive in their academics, but also to help him or her develop healthy, more positive behaviors.
Group therapy provides teens with the opportunity to realize they are not alone in their struggles. During these sessions, your teen will be able to gain valuable perspective from their peers, develop healthy relationships and learn important coping skills. They will also be introduced to relapse prevention methods and prepare for their return home.
In our teen residential treatment program, we focus on our patient’s mental and physical well-being. Oftentimes, troubled teens lose sight of how to go through life without using drugs or alcohol, and become anxious about what they will do with their spare time in the future. By participating in recreational activities, such as exercise classes and music or art therapy, teenagers are able to rediscover their passions and learn to enjoy life without mind-altering substances.
Oftentimes, when teens are struggling with substance abuse, learning basic life skills takes a back seat. Preparing patients for a life after treatment is one of the objectives of our treatment program. Through group therapy sessions and daily activities, teens learn valuable skills such as budgeting, time management, planning and anger management.
Our pastoral staff will meet your child wherever they are on their spiritual journey and offer guidance in a nonjudgmental manner. If your teen has specific religious beliefs, our staff will aim to accommodate those needs. Spiritual care is available to all patients regardless of their faith, denomination or creed.
It is not uncommon for troubled teens who are struggling with drug or alcohol abuse to have pending legal issues. Your child’s legal problems shouldn’t stand in the way of them receiving the help they not only need, but deserve. Our Court Liaison Program allows teens to fulfill their legal obligations while simultaneously receiving treatment at our facility.
Our team specializes in treating individuals struggling with a dual diagnosis disorder. Also known as co-occurring disorders, this is when a substance use disorder coincides with a mental health condition. Some of the common co-occurring disorders in teenagers include depression, anxiety and PTSD. If your teen does have a mental health condition, it’s imperative to treat their substance abuse simultaneously.
Before your teen returns home, our team will work closely with you to create an individualized aftercare plan. The aftercare planning may include the continuation of treatment through an Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP), individual therapy or family therapy.
